Curricular Development & Support

Curricular Development & Support

Curricular development and support through the Provost's Office is dedicated to fostering academic excellence for both faculty and students. From the start of each student’s journey at the University of Richmond through the general education Web of Inquiry and their major, we create a dynamic and supportive environment where students and their world-class teacher-scholars collaborate in and out of the classroom.

Web of Inquiry

The integrative Web of Inquiry curriculum ensures that students graduate with both deep disciplinary knowledge and a multifaceted worldview, preparing them to thrive in rapidly changing job markets and evolving global landscapes. Through this distinctive general education program, students become well-rounded thinkers, communicators, advocates, and community members.

Designed to span all four years of a student’s academic journey — from their First-Year Seminar (FYS) to graduation — the curriculum promotes intellectual curiosity, critical engagement, and the development of skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

Faculty Hub

The Faculty Hub offers comprehensive support for faculty and instructional staff through personalized consultations, dynamic workshops, and ongoing programs to advance teaching, research, and creative work. Centrally located on campus, it also provides a welcoming and collaborative space for faculty to experiment with new ideas, reflect on their practice, and connect with colleagues across disciplines.

Academic Advising Resource Center

The Academic Advising Resource Center (AARC) partners with the University of Richmond community to support students’ academic and personal growth, fostering an inclusive and holistic approach to their development. AARC promotes academic advising as a collaborative and formative process, where advisors engage students in meaningful conversations to align their academic, career, and personal goals with their strengths, skills, and values.

Additional Support

In addition to the Hub and the Academic Advising Resource Center, faculty benefit from a strong network of institutional partners, including the the University Registrar (link) and Office of Institutional Effectiveness (link), each of which plays a key role in sustaining a vibrant and responsive curriculum. Whether developing new courses, revising existing programs, or mentoring students through their academic pathways, faculty are supported at each step of the way.

Student Development works collaboratively to create a dynamic campus community, offer services for healthy living, and provide learning resources that build on the classroom experience.
