Scholars at Risk

Conditions around the world pose grave threats to the lives, liberty and well-being of scholars.  Temporary research and teaching positions can provide needed respite, allowing scholars to rebuild lives and careers in places of safety.  The Scholar Rescue Program brings value-added through the different experiences of these scholars and connects our institution with the problems in the world.  Each scholar would come for one year in a visiting appointment.

A faculty committee will work to identify scholars and link them to UR departments that would be willing to take on the responsibility of hosting.  We anticipate that all scholars invited to campus will be able to teach classes, though their load is negotiable.

Questions should be addressed to the Associate Provost for Faculty.
