Inclusive and Engaged Learning and Teaching Spaces

This Faculty Learning Community seeks to envision and actualize productive, inclusive, and diverse environments that allow us to engage dynamically our students and colleagues in producing innovative, interdisciplinary, collaborative work. To this effect, we aim to create scholarly, pedagogical, and community projects involving high-impact practices that integrate and support community engagement.  By bringing the community to campus, and taking the campus to the community, we strongly believe that it is possible for community members at large, faculty, and students to understand, visualize, and interrogate the histories and experiences of the Latino population in the United States, with a focus on academic and community spaces in Richmond.  This fills an important void because the Latino population has grown significantly over the past decade but this demographic shift and subsequent implications have seldom been studied or addressed, particularly in Virginia.
