Course Enhancement Grants Application
To support faculty members and staff involved in academic programs who wish to take advantage of an opportunity to add a co-curricular or curricular element to their course which would bring added cost (for example, attending a show or hearing a lecture). Funds can be used for tickets or transportation or similar items. The fund is open to support any course for academic credit, including First Year Seminars. This fund is not intended to support large or significant trips, e.g. similar to those funded by the SSIR program. This fund will support items justified as contributing significantly to the academic impact and student learning in a course, but which are not supported by the Dupont Fund or by the faculty member’s own school or department.
Questions should be directed to the Associate Provost for Faculty, Linda Boland.
Call for Proposals
Applications are invited for Course Enhancement Grants as follows:
- Spring term courses: Applications for funding for spring semester courses are due by November 1 (Round One) or by the Friday of the second week of classes in the spring term (Round Two).
- Fall term courses: Applications for funding for fall semester courses are due by March 25 (Round One) or by the Friday of the second week of classes in the fall term (Round Two).
- Round One applications will receive priority for funding.
- Applications will be reviewed by the Faculty Development Committee.
- Exceptions to these deadlines will be subject to funding availability after all rounds are completed. Questions should be addressed to the Associate Provost for Faculty, Linda Boland
Criteria for review include impact on course/student-learning goals, budget justification and affordability, and appropriateness for the fund (i.e., not suitable for support through Dupont, SSIR, Cultural Affairs, Advising, or other funding sources).
Notes: This is a limited resource, so all requests may not be funded each year. Funding amounts are typically in the range of $1,000-$2,500 but the total amount depends on the criteria noted above. To avoid a few specific courses/events dominating fund distribution, preference will be given to new requests over repeat requests, and to meeting multiple smaller requests rather than funding one or two large ones.
