Building and Sustaining an Effective Faculty Mentoring Program

Effective faculty mentoring programs are often cited as critical to the thriving of the faculty. This two-part workshop will take faculty leaders through a process to create and sustain an effective mentoring program for early and mid-career faculty members. The overall aim is to develop institutional mentoring support that would work within schools and/or departments. There will be an emphasis on ensuring an inclusive mentorship plan.

This program is for Associate Deans, Department Chairs, and other faculty leaders interested in effective faculty mentoring programs. 

The session on January 28 will be on Zoom from 11:30 am to 2 pm with a short lunch break from 12:30 – 1 pm (there will be an optional discussion time over lunch or participants may take a full break).  To register, click here

Faculty Hiring Workshop

Location: Tyler Haynes Commons, Room 305

This training will discuss the faculty hiring process, faculty ads and recruiting, and the resources available to departments on the Provost’s website. The workshop will review effective practices for the search and hiring that promote equity, consistency, and value the potential contributions of all candidates.

Prior to the session, participants must complete the Faculty Hiring Module titled “Creating an Equitable Search Process” available through TalentWeb. Once you have completed the module, you may register here. The workshop will be conducted on Zoom - you will receive the link upon your RSVP.

The deadline to complete the module and register for the Faculty Hiring Workshop is Monday, May 2nd. If you have questions about the workshop, please contact Linda Boland; if you have questions about the registration process or accessing materials, please contact Malorie Olivier.

Faculty serving on a faculty search committee as chair or diversity and search advocate (DASA) must attend the entire workshop to be certified to serve; certification is valid for two academic years. The workshop is 3 hours with two short breaks built-in.
