Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I understand there is a fund available to reimburse me for entertaining students in my home; what are the criteria?

A: The Provost’s Office administers a fund to reimburse full-time faculty and staff members for entertaining students in their homes.

Guidelines are:
  • Up to $100 per full-time faculty/staff member per fiscal year
  • Activity (dinner, party) MUST be held in a faculty/staff member's home
  • Funds are expended on a first-come, first-served basis
  • Does not apply to the opening of school meeting of advisors with advisees
To seek reimbursement:
  • Faculty/staff member sends memo to the Provost’s Office explaining the event, who attended, and the faculty/staff member's University I.D. number
  • Enclose ORIGINAL receipts taped to a 8-1/2" x 11" piece of paper


Q: As a faculty member, whom do I contact for information related to my benefits?

A: Contact Laura Dietrick or Amy Chan in Human Resources Services for information related to benefits, retirement and disability, and services tuition remission. For information related to services tuition exchange, contact Mary Dillon in Business and Finance.

Q: Where do I find information relating to tenure and promotion guidelines?

A: The Faculty Handbook is the first source to consult. School-specific policies and procedures are contained in the Appendices. You should also consult with your respective dean for clarification on tenure and promotion policies and procedures for your school.

Q: How do I learn more about the University's Distinguished Educator Award and/or the SCHEV Outstanding Faculty Award?

A: Our Faculty Recognition page has more information on faculty awards.

Q: When is…?

A: The master calendar maintained by the Provost’s Office includes many of the University’s events and deadlines for the current year.
 

Q: I am interested in taking a course (either for credit or non-credit) at the University. What procedure do I need to follow?

A: See the Educational Benefits Policy section of Chapter II of the Faculty Handbook for comprehensive information.

Q: To whom should I address questions with regard to my employment?
